The proposed Global Sanitation Centre of Excellence at IIT Palakkad, Kerala, is envisioned as a specialised research and innovation facility focused on advancing sanitation technologies and solutions. The G+1 building, with a total built-up area of approximately 9,580 sq.ft, accommodates a range of dedicated research, laboratory, administrative and collaborative spaces. The facility includes a Wet Lab, Sanitation Technology Room, Sophisticated Instrumentation Room, offices, Director’s Office, conference room and lounge, creating an integrated environment for research, experimentation, collaboration and knowledge exchange. The planning emphasises functional efficiency, seamless connectivity between research and support spaces, and a contemporary institutional character suited to a centre of excellence.
